Hotel Patio Andaluz
Historical, colonial comfort
Overview
Setting
At the heart of Quito’s colonial centre.
Quito’s first and most popular colonial style boutique hotel, the Patio Andaluz is designed to give guests a real sense of the colonial history of Quito. In the heart of the colonial centre, the hotel is surrounded by churches, museums and national monuments and the building itself has a rich history.
Set around a main patio with beautiful arches and wide corredors, the rooms are all spacious and elegantly decorated with a suitable air of a yesteryear Quito.
Insider Knowlwdge
The rooms at the back of the hotel are much quieter than those at the front which look onto the bustling street below.
History
The house was part of the original constructions at the founding of the city in the oldest neighbourhood in the city and was used as a model for other constructions thanks to its size and elegance. Throughout its history the building has been owned by key political figures in Quito’s history, leaders of revolutions and key figures in the founding of the ‘Republic’.
As with much of the historical centre, the building had fallen into disrepair during the second half of the twentieth century until it was restaured into the hotel it is today in 2003 by the Empresa Centro Historico.
